Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has shed light on his team’s 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday in the Premier League.

The thrilling encounter saw Palace take an early lead through Daniel Munoz before City’s Erling Haaland equalized with a clinical finish before halftime. Despite dominating possession, City found themselves trailing again when Maxence Lacroix restored Palace's advantage. Rico Lewis salvaged a point for the visitors with a late goal but was later sent off after receiving a second yellow card.

In his post-match interview, Guardiola acknowledged that defensive lapses and Palace’s strength in set pieces were key factors in the result.

“Football is a game of mistakes,” Guardiola remarked. “We scored two fantastic goals, but on set pieces, they are stronger than us right now—every team is. We aim to limit those situations, and that’s what we’re working on. Coming back at this stadium is never easy, but I’m pleased with many aspects of our performance.”

The draw highlights City’s continued struggle to convert dominance into wins while showcasing Palace’s resilience. Guardiola and his team will be looking to address these issues as they aim to maintain their title charge.
