Rema’s ‘Calm Down’ becomes most streamed African song in US history
Sensational Nigerian singer Divine Ikubor, better known by his stage name Rema, has made history by having his hit song "Calm Down" become the most streamed African song in American history.
In order to accomplish the feat, "Calm Down" replaced Kay's "Love Nwantiti."
On Friday, this information was released by the American music data compilation website Chart Data.
The statistics company tweeted that "@heisrema's 'Calm Down' has surpassed @ckay_yo's 'love nwantiti' to become the most streamed Afrobeats song in US history."
On Spotify and YouTube, the song has received more than half a billion streams in total.
Following a remix with American superstar Selena Gomez, which peaked at number three, "Calm Down" became the highest-peaking Nigerian song on the US Billboard Hot 100, according to The Daily Post.
Additionally, the song is the first African song to top the American radio charts.
