Abeokuta in Grief as Director of Finance Got Slain by Gunmen
In a tragic incident that unfolded on Wednesday afternoon, gunmen suspected to be armed robbers reportedly shot and killed Mr. Taiwo Oyekanmi, the Director of Finance and Accounts associated with the Governor's Office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
The shocking incident occurred on top of the NNPC Bridge as Oyekanmi was returning from a bank where he had gone to make withdrawals in preparation for the governor's budget presentation scheduled for Thursday.
Following the attack, he was swiftly rushed to the State Hospital, Ijaye, Abeokuta, where he was sadly pronounced dead.
Upon reaching out to the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, SP Omolola Odutola, it was revealed that she was yet to receive a briefing about the incident.
Two high-ranking civil servants at the Governor's Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, who spoke with our correspondent, confirmed the tragic event. The atmosphere within the secretariat is somber as the news has cast a pall of mourning over the staff. The loss of Mr. Taiwo Oyekanmi has left a void in the Governor's Office, marking a sorrowful day for all those who had the privilege of working alongside him.
Car knocked down a woman on Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway
Yesterday afternoon, a yet to be identified woman was knocked down by a car along Mangoro bus stop via Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.The woman who didn't use the close pedestrian bridge was knocked down when trying to cross the road.The driver of the car didn't stop and it took the intervention of the people around to rescue the woman from the cold hand of death.The woman is in a hospital responding to treatment.
