In recent developments, popular cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, has been unable to fulfill the bail conditions granted to him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Bobrisky's arrest and subsequent detention by the Lagos State Command of the EFCC on Wednesday made headlines, with allegations surrounding the abuse of naira, spraying of currency notes, and currency mutilation.

Dele Oyewale, spokesperson for the EFCC, confirmed the situation regarding Bobrisky's bail and his failure to meet the stipulated conditions in a telephone interview with our correspondent Thursday evening.

“He has been granted administrative bail but yet to meet bail conditions,” Oyewale stated.

Earlier, Oyewale provided insights into the circumstances of Bobrisky's arrest, emphasizing the EFCC's commitment to upholding the integrity of the naira.

“Bobrisky is with us. He was arrested last night in Lagos, and he is at our Lagos command. We arrested him for alleged abuse of naira notes, spraying of naira notes, and currency mutilation, among others,” Oyewale explained.

While investigations are ongoing, the EFCC took to its social media platforms to shed light on the situation, detailing the allegations against Bobrisky.

“Operatives of the Lagos Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have commenced investigation of Idris Okuneye, a.k.a Bobrisky, for allegedly spraying Naira notes,” the EFCC stated in a social media post.

The investigation stems from a video report capturing Bobrisky allegedly flaunting wads of new Naira notes at a movie premiere event in Lagos. Subsequent inquiries revealed similar incidents occurring at various event centers and parties.

Following the EFCC's invitation, Bobrisky voluntarily presented himself for interrogation at the Lagos Zonal Command on Wednesday, April 4, 2024, providing his statements to assist in the ongoing investigation.
