Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), has visited 10 Nigerian girls who were trafficked to Ghana under the pretense of being "sales girls" but were forced into prostitution.

Dabiri-Erewa condemned the human trafficking and played a key role in the rescue of these young girls. This information was shared in a statement by Gabriel Odu from NiDCOM's Public Relations Department on Monday.

The girls, aged 15 to 18, include eight from Imo State and two from Plateau State. They were freed following the arrest of the suspect, who is now in custody.

The case gained public attention through viral videos on Twitter, showing the plight of the trafficked girls. The rescue operation was conducted by the Nigerians in the Diaspora Organisation in Ghana.

During her visit, Dabiri-Erewa met with the rescued girls and praised Chief Calistus Elozieuwa, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation in Ghana, and his team for their efforts. The operation involved collaboration with various stakeholders, including representatives from the Imo State Government, the Eze Igbo of Ghana, and the Acting Nigerian High Commissioner to Ghana, Amb. Adeoye Ifedayo.
