The Catholic Bishop of Nsukka Diocese, Godfrey Igwebuike Onah, has warned the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to avoid mismanagement of votes and manipulation.
According to a video seen by Naijacrawl, the bishop was speaking on Sunday while reacting to the outcome of Saturday’s presidential and national assembly elections.
He stated that INEC would be held responsible for post-election violence due to vote mismanagement.
“We thank all those who came out to vote yesterday despite the difficulty and those who hoped to make the voting smooth." We beg INEC to be careful, judicious, and transparent in handling the people’s votes. The people came out in large numbers because they wanted their votes to count.
“INEC should hold itself responsible should the mismanagement of the votes lead to any problems." "We beg that none of us causes problems for others," he said.
