Many Injured, 1 Die In Onitsha Truck-Tricycle Accident
I was a saddened Saturday today in Upper Iweka side of Onitsha as one person lost his life and four others seriously injured after the driver of a Mark Truck with Registration KK837JJJ lost control while on motion along Upper Iweka by old defunct NITEL Onitsha, hit pedestrians and equally ran into a tricycle with REG number FGG455XA at about 5pm on Friday, October 2.
According to the state police command spokesperson, Haruna Mohammed, police operatives attached to CPS Onitsha quickly mobilized to the scene and rushed victims to Toronto hospital where the doctor confirmed one person dead on arrival while four others are responding to treatment.
Haruna said the corpse of the dead victim has been deposited at the mortuary for postmortem Examination.
He added that the Truck driver escaped and effort is being intensified to get him arrested.
Haruna said the case is now being investigated to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.
FUEL TANKER EXPLODES IN ONITSHA
Reports from residence around Onitsha and social media videos and images confirmed a fire incident happening at Onitsha, Anambra state.The fire incident which was said to have been caused by a fuel tanker which exploded around MCC to upper Iweka road Onitsha. Efforts to get fire services to the area was proved abortive as the Fire department complained of insufficient water.Many cars was confirmed burnt. Human casualties hasn't been confirmed.
