For the month of December 2022, Chuba Akpom has won the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month honor.

During the month, Akpom scored four goals in as many games for Middlesbrough.

The award was given to the forward, who was born in Nigeria, on Friday morning at the club's practice facility, Rockliffe Park.

In Boro's 4-1 victory over Wigan Athletic, the 27-year-old scored three times, and in the 2-1 triumph over Luton Town, he scored once.

Akpom won the prize ahead of Viktor Gyokeres of Coventry City, Ross Stewart and Ahmad Diallo of Sunderland, Illiman Ndiaye and James McActee of Sheffield United, and Viktor Gyokeres of Coventry City.

With 13 goals in 19 appearances, the striker is also the top scorer in the Championship.
