Crystal Palace Is Interested In A Late Move For Chelsea Midfielder
Crystal Palace is hoping to add at least one more player before Thursday's deadline even though there are only two days left in the current summer transfer window.
According to a recent Evening Standard article, Patrick Vieira is eager to bring Conor Gallagher back to Selhurst Park after an outstanding performance the previous season.
However, the English midfielder's interest is not limited to the Eagles. Newcastle United, West Ham, and Everton are also closely monitoring the 22-year-old.
However, it would be reasonable to assume that if Gallagher were to leave Chelsea for the second time in as many summers, Crystal Palace would be the favorites to sign him given his prior experience working under Vieira.
But it won't be simple. According to reports, manager Thomas Tuchel is hesitant to approve a loan transfer and would rather keep the midfielder, who was born in Epsom, among his squad options for this season.
In fact, in a desperate attempt to keep the playmaker on board, Tuchel is believed to be considering changing his formation to a back four in order to help get the best out of Gallagher, whose preferred role is to play as a number eight.
