Rivers United forward Nyima Nwagua has echoed the importance of football as a unifying factor.

Nwagua revealed this assertion after a kind gesture towards his team from the Edo State deputy governor, Philip Shaibu.

Rivers United ended Bendel Insurance's 21-game unbeaten run on Friday at the NPL Super Six playoff.

The combative striker believed that football should not end friendship, no matter the result.

“Football is indeed a unifying tool,” Nyima told the Daily Post in Lagos.
“Footall should not end friendship, no matter the result.
“Football should unite us and not cause friction when you lose.”
