Jermain Defoe, a former England striker, believes Manchester United will finish ahead of Arsenal in the current Premier League season.

The new manager, Erik ten Hag, has had a positive effect on the Red Devils team thus far, according to the former Tottenham star, and this may result in a strong league standing.

Arsenal's unbeaten streak in the Premier League came to an end when Manchester United defeated them 3-1 prior to the suspension of games following Queen Elizabeth II's passing.

On September 4, at Old Trafford, Mikel Arteta's team faced Erik ten Hag's team after a five-match winning streak.

Defoe believes Manchester United will “for sure” finish the season above Arsenal.

Speaking to Premier League productions, he said, “I am going to say yes, aren’t I. But, in terms of their [win over Arsenal], how they are playing and how they look like they are going to play now, then I will say yes, for sure, Manchester United will finish above Arsenal.

Arsenal are currently holding the top spot of the Premier League table with 15 points in six matches, while Erik ten Hag’s side are in fifth position after as many games.
