Laver Cup: Real competition – Drogba reacts as Federer, Nadal cry in an emotional scene
Following an emotional scene involving Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal on Friday, Didier Drogba, a Chelsea legend, paid tribute to the two tennis greats.
At the Laver Cup in London, Federer, 41, and longtime foe Nadal play in a "super special" match to conclude Federer's illustrious career.
Despite suffering defeats to Jack Sock and Frances Tiafoe in the final match of his professional career on Friday night at the Laver Cup in London with Nadal, Federer was overcome with emotion.
Drogba responded by posting a photo of Federer and Nadal holding hands and sobbing on his Twitter account on Saturday. He wrote: "This is what real competition is about!!!!" in the tweet.
"Try to beat your opponent, try to win more games and trophies, but after the game is over, keep good relations with your friends."
“A lot of people think competition is hateful and personal, and they are ready to do a lot of bad things just to win... Win or lose with courage and humility, there is a life after it!!
“Congrats @rogerfederer and @rafaelnadal for being such an inspiration for all sports people. My greatest memory of those two giants was at the Wimbledon 2008 final.
I’ve been lucky enough to witness greatness. Thank you Maestro @rogerfederer. ”
