Victor Osimhen, a striker from Nigeria, has been named a candidate for the 2023 Best FIFA Football Award.

On Thursday, FIFA announced the names of the nominees.

Osimhen won praise for his outstanding performances for Napoli in the 2022–23 season.

The Nigerian international played 32 times for the Partenopei in league play, scoring 26 goals.

The 24-year-old is also a candidate for the 2023 Ballon d'Or for Men.

Osimhen will compete for the prize against players like Lionel Messi, Erling Haaland, Julio Alvarez, and Kevin de Bruyne.
