Shooting Stars mourn late referee Opeyemi
The management of Shooting Stars has mourned the demise of a member of the Nigeria Referees Association (NRA), Oyo State Council, Mr. Rafiu Kazeem Opeyemi.
The deceased, who was the chairman of the Ona Ara Referees Society, died on Saturday evening in a ghastly accident.
He was returning from a fitness test in Abuja in company with four others when the mishap occurred at Osu, Ilesha, Osun State.
“We are deeply saddened by the news of the demise of Rafiu Kazeem Opeyemi, a fine gentleman.
“It is our prayer that God will grant him eternal rest and give his family, friends, and colleagues the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
“The club also wishes the trio of Oni Ebenezer Segun, Ajadi Odunayo, and Amos, who sustained injuries in the accident, a quick recovery,” the club said.
Uko quits Shooting Stars after two years
Anietie Uko has parted ways with the Shooting Stars ahead of the 2023–24 Nigeria Professional Football League season.The attacking midfielder joined the Oluyole Warriors in 2021.Uko registered seven goals during his two-year stay with the Oluyole Warriors.The player is rumored to be negotiating a move to another NPFL team.Rivers United, Enyimba, and Lobi Stars are reportedly interested in Uko.The midfielder featured three times for the Golden Eagles in 2015.
Shooting Stars complete Ovunda signing from Rivers United

Nigeria Premier League champions Enyimba are closing in on signing Sikiru Alimi on a free transfer.According to reports, talks are now at the final stage with his agent to complete the deal.Alimi was on the books of Shooting Stars last season but failed to agree to a contract extension.He missed the first half of the season as a result of an injury.Remo Stars and Rivers United were also interested in the player.
