Trent Alexander-Arnold must be a member of England manager Gareth Southgate's 2022 FIFA World Cup roster, according to Liverpool legend Graeme Souness.
This was said by Souness as he gave Alexander-Arnold his verdict.
This season, Alexander-Arnold has drawn attention for all the wrong reasons due to concerns about his defensive abilities.
According to BBC Sport, the England right-back was left off of the team that would face Germany on Monday night in the Nations League.
Also last week, when Southgate's team lost 1-0 to Italy at San Siro, he was inactive against Italy.
“I think he has got some deficiencies when it comes to defending, but what he gives going forward far outweighs that." Souness told talkSPORT. "In saying that, I think to win in football, you have to start a game believing you are going to play the very best of what team you are playing against,” Souness told talkSPORT.
“So in that sense, you may start with a better defender, but you have got to involve Trent in your World Cup squad.”
